  • Ideation techniques

Learning Outcomes:

  1. The value of engaging with real people to help them ground their design decisions
  2. The importance of stepping out of your own shoes
  3. How to reframe problems to make them human centred
  4. That low-resolution prototypes are useful to learn from (take an iterative approach)
  5. The importance of a bias toward action (you can make a lot of progress in a little bit of time if you start doing).
  6. How to use empathy maps
  7. The importance of not going straight to solution

Course experience

Design Thinking should really be called Design Doing. A hands-on approach builds people’s creative confidence as participants experience what it’s like to be a human-centred designer. Participants get the feel of a design approach, gain some shared vocabulary, and get a taste of each design “mode” (empathise, define, ideate, prototype, test).

Participants will receive:

  • A copy of all course content
  • All templates used in the program for empathy mapping and ideation
  • An introduction to design thinking PDF
  • Watch, read and listen library of resources
