Nadia Owen
Head of Meetings & Special Events
Women in Tourism & Hospitality WA
Whilst her initials spell the word ‘no’, this is not a word that appears in Nadia Owen’s vocabulary. Daughter of world-famous microsurgery pioneer Prof. Earl Owen, Nadia grew up in a high-performance household in Sydney, encouraged to question the ‘no’ and fight for the ‘yes’. Like father like daughter, Nadia thrives on pushing boundaries in the name of progress, and actively challenges gender norms in business settings.
After finishing her Bachelor of Arts at The University of Sydney, Nadia moved to London working in PR and Events across France and the United Kingdom. After 5 years she returned to Sydney for a year to do MICE events in Asia-Pac, then moved to Melbourne where she ran a boutique wedding venue for a few years before moving into stadia.
In 2017 Nadia took the opportunity to move to Perth and set up the Meetings & Special Events (MASE) department at Optus Stadium, beating four Perth men to the job. Nadia became the ‘Face of MASE’ at ‘The World’s Most Beautiful Stadium’ and became the primary voice of the venue through LinkedIn, building a significant following and revenue source through this channel.
Nadia is on the management committee of “Women in Tourism & Hospitality, WA” and was a nominee for the Business News 40under40 in 2022.
